Mechanical Implementation Services for Rapid Prototyping

چکیده
ABSTRACT Inspired by the MOSIS project, CyberCut is an experimental fabrication testbed for an Internetaccessible, computerized prototyping and machining service. Client-designers can create mechanical components, generally using our web-based CAD system (available at http://cad.berkeley.edu), and submit appropriate files to the server at Berkeley for process planning. CyberCut then utilizes an open-architecture, CNC machine tool for fabrication. Rapid tool-path planning, novel fixturing techniques, and sensor-based precision machining techniques allow the designer to take delivery of a component machined from high-strength materials with good tolerances, e.g. +/0.002 inch (0.05mm).There are also instances where the component’s complex geometry cannot be prototyped on our 3-axis machine tool. For these components we use Solid Freeform Fabrication (SFF) technologies such as Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) to build a prototype of the design. Based on our experience with this testbed, we have developed a new characterization of types of relationships, or “couplings,” between design and manufacturing using the following three classifications: 1) loose, repetitive, 2) stiff, one-way, or 3) strong, bidirectional. These three couplings represent different trade-offs between “design flexibility” and “guaranteed manufacturability.”

Application of the Extreme Learning Machine for Modeling the Bead Geometry in Gas Metal Arc Welding Process
Rapid prototyping (RP) methods are used for production easily and quickly of a scale model of a physical part or assembly. Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is a widespread process used for rapid prototyping of metallic parts. In this process, in order to obtain a desired welding geometry, it is very important to predict the weld bead geometry based on the input process parameters, which are voltage...

The goal of this paper is to identify and describe the services necessary to build a secure corporate intranet and to show how prototypical implementations of these components can be realized to evaluate different approaches and configurations. The paper presents an architectural framework, which identifies the core services necessary for a secure Internet-based communication and information in...
متن کاملMawl: A Domain-Specific Language for Form-Based Services
ÐA form-based service is one in which the flow of data between service and user is described by a sequence of query/ response interactions, or forms. Mawl is a domain-specific language for programming form-based services in a device-independent manner. We focus on Mawl's form abstraction, which is the means for separating service logic from user interface description, and show how this simple a...

متن کاملCloud Logic Programming for Integrating Language Technology Resources
The main goal of the CLT Cloud project is to equip lexica, morphological processors, parsers and other software components developed within CLT (Centre of Language Technology) with so called web API:s, thus making them available on the Internet in the form of web services. We present a proof-of-concept implementation of the CLT Cloud server where we use the logic programming language Prolog for...
